Nautical mile vs statute mile

A nautical mile is different (exactly 1,852 meters, about 1.852 km) and is used in aviation and marine navigation. Fitness apps, car odometers, and highway signs almost always mean the international statute mile above. If a chart says “nm,” do not use this converter.
