How this scientific calculator works
Beyond the four basic operations, this calculator adds trigonometric functions, logarithms, roots, and powers. It is aimed at students and professionals who need more than a shopping-math keypad but still want a clean on-page tool.
Modes and functions
Angle mode can be degrees or radians — check the mode label before using sin, cos, or tan. One-argument functions (sin, cos, √, log, and similar) apply to the value currently on screen. Powers use an xʸ flow: enter the base, tap xʸ, enter the exponent, then equals.
Worked example
In degree mode, sin(30) should return 0.5. For 2⁵, enter 2, tap xʸ, enter 5, tap = to get 32. For √144, enter 144 then tap the square-root control to get 12.
How to use it
- Confirm degrees vs radians for any trig work.
- Enter values with the keypad; apply unary functions to the display value.
- For xʸ: base → xʸ → exponent → =.
- Use clear controls when an entry goes wrong rather than stacking corrections.
Degrees vs radians
A full circle is 360 degrees or 2π radians. Sin(90) in degree mode is 1; sin(90) in radian mode is sin(90 radians), which is not 1. Always check the mode label before trusting a trig result. Homework and most high-school problems use degrees; many calculus and physics contexts use radians.

How do I compute a square root?
Enter the number, then tap √. The function applies to the value on screen.
What is the difference between ln and log here?
ln is the natural logarithm (base e). log is common log (base 10) on this keypad.
Can I enter expressions with parentheses?
Not on this keypad. Compute inner results first, or break the problem into steps.
Limitations
Domain errors (for example, square root of a negative number in real mode) may show as non-numeric results. This is not a computer-algebra system.
